Having shot Hannah’s twin sister’s wedding in Ely (see here!) I was fortunate enough to be asked to be Hannah and Rob’s Dovecliff Hall Hotel Wedding Photographer. Dovecliff Hall Hotel is a beautiful Georgian Manor House in seven acres of beautiful gardens and overlooks the River Dove. It makes for an excellent wedding venue and is as elegant inside as it is grand outside. It is also an exclusive use venue so you pretty much own it for the day!
We started with the preparations in Hannah’s room with only a ten second  walk down the stairs to get us to the church on time. Well, not the church really! The wedding took place in The Orangery Room with the Groom Rob getting to do his own walk down the aisle before the arrival of Hannah. Not something you see every day :).
From the ceremony it was out into the courtyard for what was, possibly, the highlight of Hannah’s day.. Admittedly you’d think (hope?) the highlight would be marrying her handsome sweetheart but said sweetheart (Rob, for those not paying attention..) had sorted out a big surprise for his new bride. Hannah is a big fan of the film Top Gun and a particular fan of the Porsche 356 Speedster driven by Charlie (played in the film by Kelly McGillis). Unbeknown to her Rob had managed to track one down thanks to power of the internet and have it arrive at the venue to take Hannah for a post ceremony spin. If you are going to do something it pays to start as you mean to go on and this was a very good start to married life!
After dinner we made a few bride and groom portraits in the Hotel itself and were then entertained by the quite fabulous, and ridiculously young, Luca Gallone. Luca is a nineteen year old magician of no little skill and he left a lot of dumbfounded people in his wake. Dumbfounded and very impressed. If you get a chance to see him then I recommend you take it. My night was finished after the first dance so,  after bidding all farewell, I was off on the journey from Staffordshire back to Ely. In my car. And listening to Darklands by The Jesus and Mary Chain. Repeatedly. A good way to end the day :)
