Ely Register Office Wedding Photographer

I’ve known Kate for several years now. We met when her son used to go the same toddler groups as my son Vinny. Although the toddler groups are a thing of the past we still see each other on occasions and I was delighted to be her and Chris’ Ely Register Office Wedding Photographer for their Big Day.

Considering Ely Register Office is less than ten minutes from my house I spend far more time photographing weddings in London! My New Year resolution might be to make sure I start shooting more locally.. The day was actually even less travel for me than would otherwise be the case as I joined the wedding party on a coach from Kate’s to take us to Ely. No car, all good :). It was to be a cold and wet winter’s day and brollys and wellies were wisely packed. We were out of the coach and into The Tennyson Room for the ceremony. We exited to the back garden of the Office to grab a few pictures but the cold was sufficient to encourage people back on to the coach for the trip to the reception meal. Back on the coach and away we go.
The reception meal took place at The Anchor Inn in Sutton near Ely and the website leads with the following quote..

“….a little bit of heaven anchored in Fenland”

The surrounds in winter are very picturesque in that stark Fenland way in winter and this added to the already cosy feeling of the Inn. More importantly, the food was marvellous :). Waiting for the rain to go off was a wait in vain so Kate and Chris heroically ventured outside and up along the bank of the canal for some rainy wedding day pictures. Here both the brolly and wellies earned their keep. Clever Kate!
After all was fed and done (I can’t tell whether that’s clever or just awful..) we were back on the coach for the trip back to the house for some cake cutting and a little champagne.
